How Billing Works

Subscription Model

  • Billed monthly through Shopify
  • Appears on your Shopify invoice
  • Cancel anytime
  • No long-term contracts

Billing Cycle

  • Starts when you select a paid plan
  • Renews on the same day each month
  • Prorated when upgrading mid-cycle

Payment

  • Uses your Shopify payment method
  • No separate payment setup needed
  • All billing through Shopify

Upgrading Plans

When to Upgrade

Consider upgrading when:

  • Approaching visitor limits
  • Needing features on higher plans
  • Growing your business

How to Upgrade

  1. Go to Billing in the sidebar
  2. Click Upgrade on desired plan
  3. Review the change
  4. Confirm upgrade

Changes take effect immediately. You're charged the prorated difference.

Upgrading Benefits

  • Immediate access to new features
  • Higher visitor limits apply instantly
  • Analytics history starts building

Downgrading Plans

When to Downgrade

You might downgrade if:

  • Traffic decreased
  • Not using advanced features
  • Budget constraints

How to Downgrade

  1. Go to Billing in the sidebar
  2. Click Change Plan
  3. Select lower plan
  4. Confirm downgrade

Note: Downgrade takes effect at next billing cycle.

What Happens When You Downgrade

  • Keep current features until period ends
  • Lose access to higher-tier features after
  • Data is preserved (within retention limits)

Canceling

How to Cancel

  1. Go to Shopify Admin → Apps
  2. Find Store Shield
  3. Click Delete

Or:

  1. Go to Billing in Store Shield
  2. Click Cancel Subscription
  3. Confirm cancellation

What Happens When You Cancel

  • Protection stops immediately
  • Your settings are preserved for 30 days
  • Reinstall within 30 days to restore
  • After 30 days, data is deleted

Before You Cancel

Consider:

  • Downgrading to Free instead
  • Pausing (contact support)
  • What issues led to cancellation

Free Trial

How Trials Work

  • 7-day free trial on Starter and Pro
  • Full access to plan features
  • No charge unless you continue
  • Cancel anytime during trial

Starting a Trial

  1. Go to Billing
  2. Click Start Trial on desired plan
  3. No payment required during trial

After Trial

  • If you continue: First charge after 7 days
  • If you cancel: Returns to Free plan

FAQ

Q: What counts as a "unique visitor"? A: Each distinct browser/device visiting your store. One person visiting multiple times counts as one visitor.

Q: What happens if I exceed my limit? A: Protection continues but some features may be limited. We'll notify you to upgrade.

Q: Is there an annual discount? A: Not currently. Monthly billing gives you flexibility.

Q: Can I pause my subscription? A: Contact support for pause options. Otherwise, downgrade to Free.

Q: Are there setup fees? A: No. Just the monthly subscription cost.

Q: Do you offer refunds? A: We follow Shopify's refund policy. Contact support for billing issues.
